Banchbo healing touch foundation (formerly BANCHBO HEALING TOUCH) is Kolkata’s first 24-hour helpline to cater to the medical problems of senior citizens. Dr Dhires Kumar Chowdhury founded Banchbo when he was a medical student about 15 years ago with friends in Garia and with the patronage of Dr Sudipto Sen, the then director of Woodlands Hospital. As an attending doctor, he found the elderly in need of not just medical help but love and care. Nuclear families and the hectic pace of life in urban India have isolated the old. Banchbo healing touch was born as an organisation on the 1st January, 2007 with valuable guidance and active support from Dr. A. K. Roy Choudhury (Chief Medical Advisor) and many more other eminent doctors to provide medical attention at the patient's home, while monitoring their progress on a regular basis.

The elder care initiative called "Banchbo Healing Touch" was launched in 2007 as a specialized "Social Entrepreneurship wing" of the well known NGO - Banchbo Sociocultural Association. It rapidly became acknowledged as the first provider of around-the-clock home-based elder healthcare support in Eastern India. The establishment of the "Banchbo Healing Touch Foundation" as a Section 8 Company on May 21, 2024, along with its official launch on July 21, 2024, marks a significant structural and strategic progression. This judicious transition from an operational division to an independent Section 8 Company emphasizes a planned growth phase and enhances the initiative's credibility. It shows a commitment to enhancing and professionalizing their distinctive services by leveraging the recognized reputation and network of the parent organization.

We are a registered philanthropic NGO, dedicated to comprehensive Geriatric care and well-being under the Section 8 Company vide Registration Number - U88900WB2024NPL270788 and enlisted in Niti Aayog NGO Darpan vide Unique Id of VO/NGO WB/2024/0427855. We hold the esteemed status of being a National Institutional Member of the Geriatric Society of India and an Institutional Associate of the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC).
